Soy Garlic You-Choy

Made some Soy Garlic You-Choy as an accompaniment for the noodles I made for dinner. Unfortunately, they turned out too salty. I shouldn't salt them and use so much soya sauce. The leafy part soaks up the soya sauce and it's way too salty. I had to drain the liquid and mix the You-Choy with the noodles to neutralize the salty taste. Hopefull I've learned my lesson. More importantly, the light soya sauce is deceiving. The colour may be light but it's quite salty. I need to use less.

Noodles

Solomon wanted noodles for dinner so I made Tofu Vegetable Chow Mein for dinner. It was good.

Ham Cheese Spinach Frent Toast

Made a ham, cheese, spinach french toast for Solomon's lunch tomorrow. We also shared one as a snack before dinner.

Apples & Grapes 20090128

Had some Chinese Fuji Apples and grapes from T&T. The Chinese Fuji's are not bad. It's not as solid as the regular Fuji's and has a hint of Gala in terms of outside appearance. The grapes were a disaster. I couldn't finish them because they were too sour. I should of tasted one before buying a whole bunch. Don't know what to do with the rest in the fridge. Can I use them to cook other dishes? Maybe some sugar might help. Yikes!

Soy Garlic You-Choy 20090128

I boiled You-Choy with stem down in boiling water for about 5 minutes. Then stir fried with olive oil, garlic and light soya sauce. Easy to cook and delicious with hot sauce and rice. Yummy!

Chicken Vegetable Stir Fry 20090128

Marinated chicken with kung pau stir fry sauce. Then stir fried chicken with olive oil. Then added sliced carrots, onions, red and green peppers, garlic and ginger. Added more kung pau, oyster and light soya sauce. Boiled broccoli and snow peas in hot water for about 5 minutes and then stir fried into chicken and vegetables. Onions and peppers were over cooked but the rest were ok. Chicken was tender and well cooked. Delicious with rice and hot sauce!

Green Beans 20090128

Cooked some green beans with kung pao stir fry, oyster and ligh soya sauce with garlic and ginger. Made the mistake of adding too much corn starch and it turned out too thick. However, the taste was still ok and I managed to eat most of it with a little leftover. I ate this one dish with rice and no other dishes. Not bad...
